Lots of people think that just because Idaho isn’t on a coastline, nobody who lives in the state ever gets to go to the beach or play in the water. But we know better. Idaho is home to a vast number of lakes, parks, rivers, and water parks, all of which give Idahoans plenty of opportunities to strut their stuff in swimsuits, shorts, and other skimpy summer wear. If you spent this past winter shedding some extra pounds, you’re probably especially eager to show off your slimmer body this summer season. But if you’re like a lot of people who lose weight, you’re probably left with some isolated areas of stubborn fat and cellulite that just won’t go away, no matter how many exercises you do or how carefully you count your calories.
At Atmosphere Med Spa, we help women and men bid farewell to those stubborn areas of fat and dimply cellulite deposits using the state-of-the-art SculpSure system. SculpSure is completely noninvasive, and there’s no downtime, making it easy to fit into your busy schedule. Here’s how it works.
Eliminating fat without surgery
While liposuction is a surgical procedure that uses long tubes to literally suck out unwanted fat, SculpSure uses a completely different technique to melt away fat without making any incisions and without the need for anesthesia, needles, or downtime. The technique is called laser lipolysis, which means destruction of fat using lasers. During the SculpSure treatment, precise bursts of laser energy penetrate your skin without harming it. The laser energy is designed to target fat tissue, gently heating fat cells until the cell walls break down, releasing the fatty contents. Once the cells are destroyed, your body’s natural “waste disposal” system does the rest, carting off the debris and eliminating it over a period of weeks. Those fat cells are gone for good, and what you're left with are slimmer, sleeker, more refined contours.
SculpSure vs. liposuction
SculpSure is a body sculpting technique, which means it’s designed to remove relatively small amounts of fat. It’s not designed as a weight-loss treatment, and it’s not a replacement for eating a healthy diet and being physically active. In fact, the ideal SculpSure candidates are at or near their ideal body weight and looking to slim down specific areas of fat and cellulite.
Liposuction can remove more fat, but as a body sculpting treatment, it has a lot of downsides. First, it’s a surgical treatment, and that means there are certain risks associated with it, including risks of infection and bleeding. Liposuction can also cause a fair amount of tissue damage since the tube (called a cannula) must break apart fatty tissue before it can be suctioned out. That means that afterward, you can be left with a lot of bruising and a lot of discomfort. Plus, most liposuction treatments require anesthesia, which has its own set of risks. Liposuction has a much longer recovery period, and it’s also more costly.
One more advantage of SculpSure: Because it uses laser heat, SculpSure can gently tone and tighten your skin for a smoother, sleeker result. Liposuction doesn’t use heat, which means you can be left with lax, loose skin afterward.
